How it Works
You won’t actually be skating on ice but a synthetic rink that resembles ice. Here is the PTA committee checking out the synthetic surface earlier in the year:
OK, so they're professionals, but, as you can see, the synthetic surface skates just like real ice.
Skates are provided but if you are lucky enough to have your own then you maybe able to use them, although this will be at the discretion of the rink provider. As a general rule hockey skates are acceptable but children's figure skating skates should not be worn as they can damage the surface. The rink can be used in all weathers but, you will be pleased to know, that we have booked glorious sunshine for the day - so don’t forget your sun hats and sun block!
Skating Sessions
For both enjoyment and health and safety reasons, the number of people on the rink at any one time is limited. For this reason the day has been split into sessions of 50 minutes which allows time to collect and put on the skates at the beginning of the session and then return the skates again at the end of the session.
Booking in Advance
Booking in advance enables you to skate at your preferred time and to book your size in skating boot, which is very important as there is only a limited number of each size of skating boot.
If you prefer, you can just come along on the day and there should be skating slots and skates available but you may have to wait or book a later session. We therefore recommend pre-booking, particularly if you wish to skate at a particular time or as a family or group of friends.
